The The Sound Democrat Mill is an amalgamation Stamp Mill built in 1906..  The mill processed ore from the Sound Democrat Mine.  The mill was constructed with four large stamps.   Three additional stamps were added to the mill in 1909.  The mill crushed gold and silver/lead-bearing ores from the Sound Democrat Mine and the nearby Silver Queen Mine.   The mill is located a few miles West of Animus Forks and is one of the most intact examples of an amalgamation stamp mill in the Western United States.
