Today, Juanita is a little ghost town across the road from a private ranch.  Only two buildings and a graveyard remain.  It once had a Catholic Mission and many other buildings.  The Denver and Rio Grande Railroad, San Juan Branch also passed through this town.  The D&RG RR operated this branch during the years 1880-1967.  It was the connection between Chama, NM and Durango, NM.  Since it is on private properety, camping is not permitted.
